We sometimes think everyone in Puerto Peñasco has visited Tessoro by now…. Much to my surprise, many of the prominent local business people have not seen us. On June 17th, I invited to the development Antonio Bellot (ship builder), Jose”Mono” Nacias (who owns several variety stores here), Notario’s Oswaldo Ortega and Armando Rameriz, Alberto Gallardo (builder and property management), Margarita Diaz (LC water company) and Oscar Palacio Soto (President of the Office of Conventions and Visitors as well as owner of Playa Bonita Hotel and RV Resort). Las Conchas Promotion Effort – Introducing “Las Conchas Ecological, Cultural and Residential Destination.”

Las Conchas has long been Puerto Peñasco’s signature neighborhood. With 30 years of rich history, Americans, Canadians and Mexican nationals have gravitated to the beaches south-east of Whale Hill stretching towards Estuary Morua. CEDO, Tessoro and other local leaders are spearheading an effort to celebrate Las Conchas and its ecological, cultural and residential heritage. Read more

Tessoro Supports Rocky Point Environmental Education Initiative

Tessoro at Las Conchas was a sponsor of the CEDO-organized 2009 Environmental Contest. This contest was organized to help local children learn about environmental conservation in Puerto Peñasco.

Over 150 students from all education levels in Rocky Point had the opportunity to obtain a deeper understanding of the migratory birds which visit local estuaries each year and of the importance these ecosystems have along their migratory routes. Read more

Reflections from Las Conchas on Cinco de Mayo

Many Americans are surprised to hear that Cinco de Mayo is not a particularly important holiday in Mexico. It has been more of an American holiday celebrated in the United States among the Mexican-American population in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Mexico’s Independence Day, the equivalent of the 4th of July, is actually on September 16th every year. Read more

Sea Shell Collecting in Las Conchas

I was reminded yesterday of why our beach is named “Las Conchas” – which means “Sea Shells” in Spanish. First thing in the morning I decided to do something I have not done in so long.

I took off my shoes and walked the beach to look for shells. It was an exceptional day here on Tessoro’s beachfront and I came across tons of perfectly shaped little shells in a variety of forms and colors. Read more
