Event Supports the Indigenous Cooperatives of Las Conchas’

The Las Conchas Peninsula was alive with the sights and smells of fresh-cooked fish, ceviche and oysters on Saturday, April 10. In a show of support for Las Conchas’ first residents and the sustainability efforts of CEDO, Tessoro and its owners invited the NaturArte Cooperatives to hold a special seafood market at the resort. All proceeds went to support the cooperatives and their families.

The NaturArte Cooperatives have fished, farmed and cultivated mariscos on the Morua Estuary since long before the American and Canadian tourists arrived. They were Las Conchas’ original residents and pioneers. In the years since, Puerto Peñasco and the Las Conchas neighborhood have grown quickly. CEDO has organized the 3 primary cooperatives into the NaturArte Ecotourism Corridor. This allows these indigenous residents to participate in the benefits of tourism and maintain their lifestyles. As the weather glides from slightly chilly to pleasantly warm, there is nothing better than spending time on the Sea of Cortez in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora (Rocky Point). I can say this with confidence, conviction, and honesty as my wife and I have owned a home in the Las Conchas neighborhood in Rocky point since 1996.

We have travelled extensively on numerous trips in the Baja and other parts of Mexico. We love all of Mexico, but always return to Puerto Peñasco knowing that we indeed are invested in the very best spot in this beautiful country. A lot has been made of Tessoro’s internet technology. The developers have taken pride in giving Tessoro owners a level of connectivity no other development could dream of. The Rocky Point Times recently highlighted the new trails blazed by Tessoro at Las Conchas in the internet and technology realm.

Last weekend, the owner of Diamond Residence 501 and his guest wandered down to the Palapa with their laptop, opened the ESPN web site and watched the Kentucky-LSU basketball game streaming live over the internet using only the public Wi-Fi connection. Tessoro had a nice surprise last weekend when Ray Adams of The Fan 1060 AM in Phoenix broadcast his show live from the Las Conchas Peninsula!

Mr. Adams hosts the Great American Golf show on Saturdays and a weekday golf and lifestyle show on the drive home from 6-7pm. Mr. Adams stayed in Jade Residence 404 and set up his mobile radio equipment by Tessoro’s Gym and Spa on Saturday morning, January 30th. Read more

On Saturday, June 27, Tessoro at Las Conchas participated in the Boys & Girls Club of Tucson summer event, the “18th Annual Steak and Burger Dinner.” Tessoro donated a vacation in Puerto Peñasco for 4-6 guests to stay at Rocky Point’s finest resort real estate on the Las Conchas Peninsula, helping to raise several hundred dollars for the charity. This marks the third Boys and Girls Club event where Tessoro has participated. Tessoro has made it a company policy to support a variety of charitable groups in the markets where our owners live.
