On Wednesday, December 17th, the Puerto Penasco community was excited to celebrate the opening of the new Coastal Highway. Governor Eduardo Bours officially inaugurated the Highway amid a cheering throng near the Sea of Cortez.
This multi-million infrastructure initiative connects Puerto Peñasco with San Luis Rio Colorado and Yuma, Arizona, offering a direct route to and from Southern California – San Diego is now only a 5-hour drive! Yes, Rocky Point’s fabulous beaches and warm weather have moved even closer for our Californian friends.
The Coastal Highway is a state-of-the-art, beautiful and safe road that winds north along the Sea of Cortez through the Pinacate Biosphere reserve towards the mouth of the Colorado River. The outstanding views throughout the road are Free!!!
