Down on the Las Conchas Peninsula, we have been enjoying days in the mid-80s and nights in the high 60s. The sea breeze is light and comfortable. It is a pleasure to sit outside by the pool or soak in the perfect ocean water. Tessoro’s many owners and guests have been celebrating one of the best springs ever in Puerto Peñasco. For anyone stuck in the heat of Phoenix or Tucson, there is only one question . . . Why aren’t you here?

Phoenix has seen 4 consecutive days of over 100 degrees. It is 105 degrees right now in Tucson. It is 15-20 degrees cooler on the beach in Rocky Point. Read more

This year, with the resort delivered and owners living in their beachfront condominium residences, the event will take on a different flavor. We will celebrate together as a new and growing community. Several newer owners will get to know owners who moved in last fall. We will welcome them into the circle of friendship at Tessoro. Spring in Las Conchas

tessoro-springBy Scott Spackeen

As the weather glides from slightly chilly to pleasantly warm, there is nothing better than spending time on the Sea of Cortez in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora (Rocky Point). I can say this with confidence, conviction, and honesty as my wife and I have owned a home in the Las Conchas neighborhood in Rocky point since 1996.

We have travelled extensively on numerous trips in the Baja and other parts of Mexico. We love all of Mexico, but always return to Puerto Peñasco knowing that we indeed are invested in the very best spot in this beautiful country. It offers easy driving access near the U.S. border and a very safe, hard working, and friendly town. Read more

Final Reflections on the Holidays in Puerto Peñasco

tessoro-community-8585Tessoro at Las Conchas

The Christmas season has come and gone in Las Conchas and we are now into a new year. Hopefully 2010 will bring good health and prosperity to all of us. The week between Christmas and New Year’s Rocky Point saw a lot of people back in town, which certainly did stimulate the economy.

The Christmas season in Mexico is filled with so much tradition, including the annual series of “Posadas” (Christmas shelters where celebrations are held). Around the 15th of December, my neighbors here in Puerto Peñasco all start with the Posadas every night. Read more

Salt Lake City to Tucson to Rocky Point

tessoronowHappy New Year Friends of Tessoro from all of us in sales at the award-winning, “over-the-top” condominium development out on the secluded Las Conchas peninsula. I returned to Puerto Peñasco on January 8 after spending a month in Salt Lake City where I live when not enjoying my time spent in our second favorite “home.” It’s great to be so close to skiing and our friends in Utah, but just as great to come back to the warmth of the Sea of Cortez and Rocky Point’s unbelievable beaches and natural beauty (and amazing real estate). Update from the Las Conchas Peninsula

update1Although Tessoro’s visitors always see me in Rocky Point, my family is in the United States and this week I became a proud Marine Corp grandma. I left Puerto Peñasco to see my middle grandson PFC Ryan Gardner graduate from MCRD Boot Camp in San Diego. It made me so proud to see him after 13 weeks, now a young man. Walking on his arm was so special. The patriotism and pride is so incredible and the camaraderie of the parents and families is beyond belief. For anyone that knows me, I am an emotional person who cries while singing Silent Night and when Bambie’s mother died, so you can only imagine my reaction to all the patriotic songs. The final one was Lee Greenwood’s “I’m Proud to Be an American.” Read more

Interview with Lanae Johnson

johnson-tFrom JOIN US, December Edition 2009
Lanae was raised in Tucson and grew up visiting Las Conchas with her family. She is now a happy mother of three and is moving into a Diamond Residence at Tessoro with her husband, Darry.

Q: So when did you first visit Rocky Point?

Over thirty years ago, our family started taking vacations to the beach at Las Conchas. We rented different beach houses and always enjoyed spending time at the estuary. The beautiful wide-open spaces offered something for everyone in our family. We enjoyed body surfing, walking the beach, collecting shells, fishing, exploring the coral reefs, building sand castles, frisbee, picnics, bonfires, and cruising the sand dunes. Read more

From JOIN US, December Edition 2009

Chuck is Vice President of the Las Conchas HOA and the director of Océano Luxury Vacation Rentals and Real Estate. Charlie is Chuck’s father and one of the original Las Conchas homeowners who played a key leadership role in the neighborhood’s development.

Q.  Tell us about Las Conchas in 2009?

Chuck: It’s been an exciting year. Lot’s of new houses were built, Tessoro opened, there is a new administration in the state and local governments that we think will be great for infrastructure and tourism development. The HOA is strong and active. CEDO is getting ready to celebrate its 30th anniversary. We are really looking forward to 2010. Read more
