Event Supports the Indigenous Cooperatives of Las Conchas’
The Las Conchas Peninsula was alive with the sights and smells of fresh-cooked fish, ceviche and oysters on Saturday, April 10. In a show of support for Las Conchas’ first residents and the sustainability efforts of CEDO, Tessoro and its owners invited the NaturArte Cooperatives to hold a special seafood market at the resort. All proceeds went to support the cooperatives and their families.
The NaturArte Cooperatives have fished, farmed and cultivated mariscos on the Morua Estuary since long before the American and Canadian tourists arrived. They were Las Conchas’ original residents and pioneers. In the years since, Puerto Peñasco and the Las Conchas neighborhood have grown quickly. CEDO has organized the 3 primary cooperatives into the NaturArte Ecotourism Corridor. This allows these indigenous residents to participate in the benefits of tourism and maintain their lifestyles. It is one of the wonders of Las Conchas. The cooperatives engage in environmentally-friendly, sustainable fishing and oyster farming practices. They safeguard parts of the Morua Estuary and protect its pristine character.
Tessoro at Las Conchas offers its owners a beachfront resort like no other in Rocky Point. Our owners love the natural beach, environment and unique location in Las Conchas on the Morua Estuary. Part of what makes Tessoro special is its commitment to maintaining the natural beauty of its surroundings and its commitment to its neighbors and the Las Conchas community institutions. Unique in Puerto Peñasco, Tessoro strives to offer luxury beachfront living with meaning and social consciousness.
Tessoro owners and a small number of Las Conchas Homeowners and CEDO supporters enjoyed the freshest seafood imaginable on Saturday. The fish were caught that day. The oysters were pulled from the Estuary an hour before the market started. The ceviche was specially prepared. It was a community seafood experience and a joyous event. This really captured the boutique resort experience and beachfront lifestyle that Tessoro promises. Another day on the marvelous Las Conchas Peninsula in Rocky Point . . .
