Sea Shell Collecting in Las Conchas

I was reminded yesterday of why our beach is named “Las Conchas” – which means “Sea Shells” in Spanish. First thing in the morning I decided to do something I have not done in so long.

I took off my shoes and walked the beach to look for shells. It was an exceptional day here on Tessoro’s beachfront and I came across tons of perfectly shaped little shells in a variety of forms and colors. I have several fancy olive oil bottles that I fill with sand and shells to make accent pieces on the window ledges or shelves in my house.

It is a new moon this week and the tides are higher than usual here in Rocky Point, Puerto Penasco. This area enjoys some of the widest tide change in the world, offering ever-changing scenery. The new moon tide makes for ideal shell-hunting conditions, so tomorrow I plan to arrive early, indulge my feet with soft sand, and go in search of sea shells . . . or las conchas. I invite anyone who reads this to come enjoy a morning walk with me soon!
