From San Luis Rio Colorado
If you come from Yuma, Calexico, Mexicali or surrounding areas, you have these 2 options:
First:
a) Take the International Highway #2 towards San Luis Rio Colorado. Pass by the toll gate ($12 pesos per car).
Go straight approximately 300 yards towards San Luis R.C. until arriving at the customs broker (yellow office on the right side of the highway) and turn right.
b) Continue straight about 1.88 miles (3 kms.) until the road sign – Photo 3– (Col. Hidalgo straight, San Luis R.C. Left), and turn Left before the waterway.
c) Continue about .6 miles (1 km) where the street turns right and ends at the stop sign.

d) Turn Right into Av. Constitucion.
e) As you turn into Av. Constitucion, there are 2 Pemex Gas Stations, excellent place to refill the tank!
f) Continue on av. Constitution, it turns to the left, Keep on going. (If you need food or beverages, there is an Oxxo convenience store about 300 yards. after the gas stations).
g) About 100 yards ahead, starts the highway to El Golfo de Santa Clara with an announcement of Feliz Viaje above the road
Second
If you missed to turn at the yellow customs broker, or if your choice was to enter San Luis R.C., the second option is:
1) Take the Second Street towards South, (it is the second traffic light after the toll house).
2) Go straight on second street through 5 traffic lights: (Madero, Juárez, Hidalgo, Kino and Revolución), and a Stop sign (Carranza). The 6th. traffic light is av. Constitucion and is the only avenue in diagonal turn to the Right into Constitucion.
3) Continue on av. Constitucion up to where you see the 2 gas stations (back to instruction e) about 1.8 miles (2,9 Kms.) from second street.
4) Continue on av. Constitution, it turns to the left, Keep on going. (If you need food or beverages, there is an Oxxo convenience store about 300 yards after the gas stations).
5) About 100 yards ahead, starts the highway to El Golfo de Santa Clara with an announcement of Feliz Viaje above the road (back to instruction g).
Already on the highway to El Golfo de Santa Clara:
a) Continue on the highway, you are going to drive through several small towns and agricultural fields, be very cautious with slow vehicles like trucks and extra-wide tractors.
b) Approximately 23.1 miles (37 Kms.) ahead, you’ll arrive at the town of Riitos. Here the highway turns to the right 90 degrees, goes across of the railroad tracks and turns again 90 degrees to the left.
c) Continue on the highway, beware of NO Pavement side road. You’ll have to stop at a military check point, below a red and white antenna tower (they usually check only the vehicles going from South to North). Keep on going, but be very careful with the road work, some parts with no pavements and heavy machinery traffic.
d) Continue up to 62.5 mile approximately (100 Kms.), you’ll see the road sign that indicates the entrance to the coastal highway to Rocky Point.
e) Turn to the left into the new coastal highway to Rocky Point, it’s in very good conditions, but BE CAREFUL, there are flaws like:
I. The first 20 miles (32 kms) have very sharp curves, when windy, they’ll be covered with loose sand and they are not very well signalized.
II. There are Dips with no warnings and in some points the ascents do not allow you to see the curves that follow them.
f) About 82 miles (130 kms) later, you’ll se the road sign directing you to Laguna del Mar or Puerto Peñasco. Turn Left onto the cross road and go cautiously across the railroad tracks.

h) Keep on going up to the traffic circle and turn right, go for a couple of miles and you’ll be entering Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point) on the main boulevard (Benito Juarez), moderate your speed and drive carefully.
Welcome to Puerto Peñasco !!!.
